Hattie McDaniel

This is Hattie McDaniel, the first black American to win an academy award for her portrayal of "Mammy" in David O. Selznick's Civil War classic, "Gone With the Wind" (1939). She was a trail blazer and opened doors for many black actors who went on to become real American icons. We appreciate her contributions, an I hope I've done her justice in this rendering.
